Weddings are happy and special, and I am so lucky to be a part of them. I love my job!
I pride myself on getting to know my wedding couples so that I can make their most memorable and special occasion extremely personable, unique and unforgettable. We’ll sit down together and chat about everything – your likes (and dislikes), how you first met and more and also give you guidance if needed. I’ll encourage you to write some special words to each other if you are so inclined and we can include readings, too. In the end we’ll have created a very beautiful, meaningful, spiritual and special wedding ceremony.
I can officiate at your special ceremony at the location of your choice, serving all faiths, traditions and orientations. Some of my favorite spots are the Norwich Inn, Water’s Edge, Lake of Isles, St Clements Castle, New Haven Lawn Club and many beaches and parks. I’ll travel throughout Connecticut, and if you haven’t yet selected a venue, I am happy to talk about options. My own beautiful home, in front of a 30’ tall brick fireplace, is an option for intimate ceremonies of up to six people.
I include a Unity sand ceremony in all my weddings, and each couple receives a customized marriage certificate as a keepsake. I have been awarded couple’s choice awards every year from 2009 up to 2022 . For over 25 years I have served as a Justice of the Peace and non-denomination Minister. I have officiated at over 2900 wedding and vow renewal ceremonies.

We reached out to Betty based on her overwhelmingly positive reviews as a Justice of the Peace also willing to do secular weddings with a personal, beautiful ceremony. The reviews truly did not disappoint! From start to finish, Betty was a delight to work with. She was incredibly responsive by email, and even invited us to her home to meet her in person so that she could get to know us better and so that we could feel comfortable with the person we ultimately chose to officiate our wedding. She showed us the ceremony that she personally wrote, and was more than willing to adapt it to fit our style. After our first in-person meeting, we knew for certain that we wanted Betty to be the person who married us. Between this meeting and the actual wedding day, Betty was also incredibly helpful behind the scenes, answering questions and offering advice when needed. She was always available and communicative, conveying her excitement and support.
The day of the wedding, Betty was incredible. Her ceremony was lovely and her delivery of it was flawless. She loves what she does and it shows. Even more important, Betty is simply a lovely person – so much so, that despite only having met in person once, on the day of our wedding it felt like being married by someone much closer to us, which made it all that much more meaningful. We are so lucky to have been able to work with Betty and so honored to have her as part of our wedding story.

We really enjoyed working with Betty and having her officiate our wedding. We connected with Betty immediately when we first met, almost like we had known her already. We liked her sense of humor and positive energy. She loves her job and as a result is really very good at what she does. She made us feel at ease and made sure we knew what to expect (despite us not doing a rehearsal), so we really got to enjoy our ceremony. We included our own “feelings” as she calls them, which was a nice special touch and just what we wanted. She has her own beautiful script completely memorized which is also very nice, and also means that there really is not a whole lot of wiggle room, although she was always open to discussing any questions or concerns we had about a particular section. She was the perfect fit for us and her price is so affordable (and 100 times more reasonable than any other officiants we researched). She came through with exactly what she promised, pronounced our names correctly, was early for the ceremony, and checked in with us beforehand to make sure we were comfortable and ready. She also takes care of filing the marriage license with the town afterwards, which was so nice since we live an hour from the town where we were married. Choosing Betty turned out to be one of the best decisions for us, and we would certainly recommend her to anyone!
Betty is truly the best at what she does! She is organized, knowledgeable, warm, friendly and so down to earth! From the moment you meet her, you feel as if you have known her forever.
