Justice of the Peace: Janice E Favreau

Janice E Favreau

Justice of the Peace, Notary

I am sincerely dedicated to providing every couple with a ceremony that not only meets their expectations, but exceeds them!

Your wedding day is your special day and I enjoy using my 17 years of experience as a JP to inspire you and provide you with suggestions that are tailored to you and the wedding you want – whether it is a large formal wedding or a “couple only” wedding.  This is your day and I will help you to make it all you want it to be!  As an LGBTQ Ally, same sex weddings are particularly important to me.

I have worked with couples as far away as New Zealand (Facetime!) or as near as just a half a block up the street!  I offer FREE 30 minute virtual meetings, but will also meet couples in person, by appointment.   Prior to our meeting, I will email you FAQ’s on getting your marriage license as well as my Couple Profile, so our meeting will be tailored to your expectations.  When we meet, I will review the legal requirements to obtaining a marriage license along with providing you with suggestions and advice for suggested ceremonies, vows, optional readings or Special Elements, such as the Unity Candle, Rose, or Sand Ceremony.

When we have a pre-wedding meeting, we’ll get to know each other. I truly enjoy my role as a wedding officiant.  I love learning about who you are as a couple (and maybe incorporating a bit of your love story into the wedding ceremony!) and then seeing all the components of your wedding come together.  It gives me great satisfaction to share this wonderful, special day with you!

If you wish, I’ll encourage you to write your own vows – it isn’t as difficult as it might seem, it will just be like reading a love letter to your partner.   Writing your vows is as easy as answering one question: “Why do you love this person?” There’s your vow!

Your ceremony is the one moment during your Wedding Day when it is just you and the one you love holding hands, facing each other and pledging your love to each other now and forevermore. Yes, your guests may be there, but as you stand there holding the hands of the one you love, it is during this moment, after all the planning, that you are focused on just how much you love this person and how thrilled you are to be joining your lives together as one.

My role is not only to make sure the legal components are there, but more importantly to craft a ceremony that is all you want it to be.

Whatever type of ceremony you are planning, whether a simple town hall ceremony, a just the “two of you” at home, a backyard event, a formal “fairy tale” wedding, riding up on a tractor for an “on the farm wedding” or even in a park on a motorcycle – I can provide you with whatever guidance you need.

As a certified paralegal, I am adept at making sure all the paperwork is completed correctly. You’ll have no worries about the legality of your marriage.

During ceremonies I wear a black, traditional robe with a stole because it conveys a level of professionalism. This distinguishes me as the officiant, and doesn’t distract from the couple. I want all eyes to be on you!

I provide music (if you need it) a memorable keepsake wedding certificate and a copy of your ceremony on beautiful bond paper to memorialize the day. Fees depend on the service provided.

Other services provided: Renewal of Marriage Vows and Notary Public.

From Mexico, where we live, we found Janice on findajp.com and from there everything came together effortlessly. She took great care in planning ceremony design, wording, and logistics with us. Her tips were a great help when planning long-distance. When the big day came, it only exceeded what we had imagined. Afterwards, several guests told us how moved they were by the ceremony.

We really felt that it fit the two of us and our relationship. Thank you for your expert advice and for getting all our documents done so quickly. And thank you also for the very thoughtful wedding gift!

Thank you again for the wonderful job you did on our wedding ceremony! Your guidance helped to make the ceremony all that we wanted and more. Thanks also for the beautiful certificate and wine glasses. We will be sure to recommend you whenever a friend or a family member is looking for a good JP, or should we say and “excellent” JP! Thanks so much

We want to thank you again for giving us a beautiful and intimate ceremony. Your special touches with the music and readings made it wonderful. You gift to us of the photo album was very thoughtful – we look forward to using you again for our larger wedding once we set a date.
