I have been a JP for 18 years and have loved every wedding I’ve ever performed. I love the unusual as well as the usual. Each wedding is unique and it should be everything that the couple hopes it will be.
I’m open to all kinds of weddings and was one of the first in the state to perform “same sex” civil unions because – Love is love is love and I was thrilled when I finally could just say that I can marry people who are in love without using a different term.
I am retired from my full-time job as a training manager in the mental health and wellness field. I’ve also stepped down from my adjunct faculty position teaching a Women’s Reproductive Health course at UConn. This has given me more time to meet with couples, to be available for quick mid-day City Hall weddings or evening weddings at home. I am familiar with the excitement as well as the stresses that can go along with planning a wedding. I have experiences and contacts – ideas for sites, photographers, caterers, etc.
The unusual wedding or the challenge of finding the right ceremony for a couple are things that I love. I have even performed weddings with Ozzy Osbourne quotes, Dave Matthews lyrics, a Princess Bride and a Transformers wedding. I am passionate about ensuring that everyone feels respected and included. I spent part of my childhood in Africa and have traveled extensively. I am sensitive to religious rituals and cultural traditions. I helped to start the Bristol Interfaith Coalition and work together with friends from a variety of faiths, learning from each other.
So whether your wedding be small and intimate, at City Hall, in your back yard or at a catering facility, I would love to speak with you. Being a Justice of the Peace is not something that I’ll be retiring from for a long time. Looking into the faces of brides and grooms as they beam with love, is something I don’t think I’ll ever tire of. Contact me. Let’s chat or Zoom or meet and figure out what your wedding will look like.
More weddings, more love!

- Click Image to EnlargeThis “surprise” wedding (guests thought they were attending a birthday party) was fabulous from start to finish AND I managed not to fall off of the bridge that I had to stand on without rails.

Laura performed the interfaith/multicultural ceremony for our daughter. She was sincere, funny when appropriate, flexible to keep things on track and eloquent. She got to know the bride and groom so her personal reflections were meaningful. She even learned to lead the groom in his wedding vow in German, so his family and he felt totally included. we couldn’t have imagined a better officiant.
It was so great to work with Laura on planning our wedding ceremony. She wove in many personal details about us and tailored our ceremony just for us. It was not only personal but memorable. People laughed, they cried…10/10 would get married again just to repeat the experience!
