One of the ultimate expressions of love and joy is marriage! I would be honored to officiate your wedding or vow renewal. I am respectful and open to all traditions, religions and same sex couples.
A couple’s wedding is one of the most eventful, stressful and exciting times in their lives. The Justice of the Peace who marries them has the duty of not just uniting them, but doing so with competence, joyfulness, humor (when it is called for), calmness and respectfulness. A Justice of the Peace helps to set the tone for the ceremony. For these reasons, the couple must have confidence in the Justice of the Peace that they have chosen to marry them and trust that their needs and desires will be cared for during their special day. The couple should strive to find the Justice of the Peace that understands their needs and is ready, willing and able to help make their dreams come true.
I am African-American and Jamaican, therefore, I am knowledgeable about the cultural traditions related to both of my heritages. I am also very respectful of the traditions of all cultures. What I do not know regarding another culture’s traditions, I am definitely willing to learn about and help incorporate into a couple’s wedding. It’s even more exhilarating to be able to blend cultural traditions to create a unique ceremony that incorporates all the traditions and values that helped to make the couple fall in love with each other in the first place! I welcome ALL loving couples! I am definitely a supporter of marriage equality; same-sex, interfaith/racial couples are all wonderful and embraced by me!
Wedding ceremonies can be as “traditional” or as creative as couples want their ceremonies to be! I can create custom vows or I can help couples write their own vows. I can help couples decide what existing Unity ceremonies they might want to include in their ceremony or I can help couples create their own unique Unity ceremony. Whatever couples choose to do, I am ready to make it happen!
I love Connecticut and have lived here just about all of my life! I have been very involved in my community over the years. I retired from my 20-year career with the State of Connecticut on May 1, 2020. I graduated from law school in 2016, earning my Juris Doctor. I am a member of the Board of Directors for the Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity (Hartford, Connecticut) and a member of the Connecticut Commission on Racial and Ethnic Disparity in the Criminal Justice System whose purpose is to eliminate racial and ethnic disparity in the criminal justice system. I am a 2015 honoree of the 100 Women of Color Gala, which has been held in Connecticut each year since 2015. The black tie event honors 100 women of color in Connecticut and Massachusetts regarding our involvement in business, sports, law enforcement and community activism. I am also a Notary Public.
Officiating weddings as a Justice of the Peace has been an extremely satisfying position in my life. It has afforded me the opportunity to help facilitate joy and happiness for couples who have chosen me to be a part of their lives and has allowed me to meet some wonderful people! Officiating weddings is my honor and my blessing and I do not take a couples trust in me lightly!
I look forward to being of service to all who contact me and I wish you all Joy, Love and Peace!
COVID-19 UPDATE 7/2/2021:
I have completed the COVID-19 Training for Marriage Officiants and learned some very important information that is vital for the safety of couples as well as my safety. As Connecicut re-opens for business, we should all be mindful that COVID-19 is still a health threat and plan accordingly. I am fully vaccinated as of April 2021.
I continue to officiate weddings for couples who have been fully vaccinated at this time. As we head into the fall and due to the rise in COVID-19 and the “D” variant, I will re-assess my availability for indoor weddings and update my profile accordingly.
WE WILL ALL GET THROUGH THIS TOGETHER!
STAY SAFE AND BE HEALTHY!!
Note: If you contact me by Phone, please send a TEXT message (Do Not Call!) BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Please include your Full Name, date, time and location of your ceremony (if available). I will respond to your message within 24-hours. Thank You!

“Sharon is WONDERFUL! I highly recommend her as a JP for anyone. She met with us, gave us all the information we needed and we discussed how we wanted everything to go. She gave us dates when everything would be ready and was always on time. Truly amazing person!”
From the first moment we meet Sharon we knew she was the one. Her personality brighten up the room. Extremely Fun and Amazing. She’s like that friend you want by your side. She was a Great Blessing when it came to our union as Husband and Wife. She’s definitely getting invited to all our future cookouts!!
Married May 31, 2020
Sharon was amazing and put us completely at ease. Her calming personality and witty sense of humor was exactly what we were looking for. In our opinion, if you\’re looking for someone to officiate your wedding, Sharon is a \”must have\” for your special day!

Our experience with Sharon was far beyond wonderful. From the initial stage of selecting a JP, Sharon insisted that we should be comfortable with her before we made a final decision. Her keen attention to details and her need for us to have the wedding “OUR” way was perfect! Due to COVID-19, we wanted to have a small and intimate wedding. Sharon was able to make our dream a reality! Even though it was small, she ensured we had all the parts of a full wedding. We couldn’t have asked for anything more! Her vivid personality and her zeal for love, marriage and union was just what we needed on our special day! Thank you Sharon! Continue bringing Love together!!!
Sharon officiated our wedding on May 14, 2021. She seamlessly set the marriage planning in motion, by discussing our requirements in detail, then suggesting options to tailor our ceremony for our specific needs. She coordinated with the event planners and they handled everything. The venue and ambiance was wonderful. She looked beautiful as well and all we could
do was smile. Sharon made all the difference in my wedding and I highly recommend her. The only surprise you’ll experience, is that you’ll be pleased because you’ll get way more pleasure from her efforts than you ever expected!!
Our first encounter with Sharon, over the phone, was just as friendly, helpful, supportive, guiding,
assuring, and refreshing, as when we met her on our wedding day. The degree of professionalism that
she carries is unmatched, the time and effort she put in to make our day as special as we dreamed it
could be (under any type of circumstance) is unforgettable. Let me put it this way, she told us on our
wedding day that the job of a JP was to alleviate the stress and pressure of the ceremony from the Bride
and Groom. She did this for us with such grace and patience, such care and understanding. There is no
where else you should look for a JP other than her, we mean this from the bottom of hearts. There will
be times in your life where you truly appreciate a decision you have made, choosing Sharon will be one
of them.
Sharon is a well organized, thoughtful, and professional wedding officiant who went above and beyond for our marriage ceremony. We just wanted a simple and easy process given the current world situation and she was perfect in making it exactly that while adding her special touch. She works quickly and efficiently and we would absolutely choose her again. Thank you, Sharon!
Sharon, thank you for officiating our wedding and sharing in our day. Although we choose a very small and intimate ceremony, your touch and remarks will forever be cemented in our bond.
Mrs Sharon was great she wrote up our vows for us after we had a nice long conversation about our life and relationship you can tell she personalized it for us and it was perfect. And when we had our unity ceremony a month later she came back and spoke again it was perfect. Definitely will be using her services again.
Before meeting Mrs. Sharon we thought a JP was just a random person who read words in order for a couple to get married. We were totally wrong. We are so happy we found Sharon. She took the time to get to know my husband and I as well as our daughter. We entrusted her with writing our vows and she did an amazing job. We started out with looking for a JP and ended with a new family member. Absolutely the best decision we made to start our lives as a married couple. Sharon will be our ONLY choice when we renew our vows!!
