California – End Child Marriage

Legislative Activity

California’s state legislature considered a bill (SB243) in August 2018 that would have ended child marriage. It was watered down so much that in some circumstances no minimum age was set. Because our members have said that they don’t want to officiate when a child is involved, we opposed the bill.

Testimony

JPus opposed legislation that was pending in California because it would allow child marriages. Our letter to the state’s legislators opposing SB243 is here.
