Coronavirus Update #6

It has been over a year since our lives were turned upside down because of the coronavirus pandemic. During this time we’ve experienced heartache and sadness, as well as some surprising joys. We’ve risen to the occasion and we found creative ways for weddings to move forward. I am constantly reminded about our resilience, and I am proud of how JPus members show their professionalism.

Resources

Now, as more and more people become fully vaccinated (two weeks after final shot), we can begin to feel a little more comfortable when outside of our homes. This isn’t an invitation for complacency. Rather, we must remain attentive. Nonetheless, once vaccinated we can give ourselves a little breathing room. Outside weddings are still preferred. The following CDC Choosing Safer Activities chart provides guidance on making safe choices.

During this time, I hope that you’ve taken advantage of the information we’ve compiled on our COVID Resource pages. Our goal is to help you safely and successfully navigate marriages. We updated content to reflect lifted stay-home orders and states opening up.

In the meantime, know that you can rely upon us. Stay connected with updates on our website and sign up for our newsletter. Also, be sure to follow us on social media. Finally, if you don’t see the answer you are looking for, the Justice of the Peace Association is just an email or phone call away.

Be well and safe,

Core Values

Articulating the Justice of the Peace Association’s core values supports our vision and shapes our culture. It shows what is important to us. For instance, our core values speak to our identity. Our principles. Our ethics. They are who we are.

JPus’ managing member, Loretta Jay, wrote in a LinkedIn article how her own Why influences the association’s direction and the proposed core values listed here. We invite our membership to review them, and then provide feedback.

Proposed Core Values

We believe in love, inclusion, integrity, helpfulness and inquisitiveness. These core values guide JPus’ objectives and our business practices.

  • Love. We recognize that love is what makes the world go round. As an organization, we cherish our relationships with members and the love between our couples.
  • Inclusion. We acknowledge and embrace diverse backgrounds and cultures. We actively pursue and practice equity for all people.
  • Integrity. We are trustworthy and reliable. Services are performed honestly and with respect.
  • Helpfulness. We go above and beyond to meet the needs of our couples and our members.
  • Inquisitiveness. We believe that learning never stops. This means listening without judgment and being willing to ask for help. Digging in to a couple’s love story and embracing learning opportunities. Growing our knowledge about different cultures and enhancing our skills as marriage officiants.

Why do you enjoy performing marriages?

Tell us why you love being a justice of the peace or notary. Does it spark something special in you? Bring joy to your day? Counter a less-heartening day job? Each one of us has a different reason for this work we love. We want to hear about your special reason.

Share the Joy

  • Send us your reason why through our JPus Facebook Page or send us an email. Include a photo, too. We’ll then share the love on our findaJP Facebook and Instagram pages. Be sure to like our pages so we can tag you!
